Preschool Staff

Marlene Brisendine - Preschool Teacher 
Marlene has been with the St. Andrew Preschool program eight years. She is the lead teacher for the two and three year old preschool classes.  Marlene has a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education K-6 from West Virginia State University. She also has a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and Marketing from West Virginia State. One of her goals is to implement lesson plans with developmentally appropriate activities that include various areas of a child's development, such as motor skills, social emotional development and language development. Scientific and mathematical concepts are also incorporated into her lessons.  Marlene is an active member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Nitro.
Pam Varney - Preschool Teacher
Pam has been with the St. Andrew Preschool program for over ten years. She is the lead teacher for the four and five year old preschool classes. Pam attended West Virginia State for two years, specializing in Psychology and Sociology toward a degree in Social Work.   Pam completed and is certified in ACDS, Childhood Development Specialist.  Her goal for the four year old preschool program is to help the children to transition to Kindergarten. To prepare them to be successful in all of their coming school years.
Paula Butcher - Preschool Aide
Paula is new to the St. Andrew Preschool Program.  She is an aide in the 2 and 3 year old class. She lives in South Charleston with her husband and 3 children.  She is a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Charleston.  Paula is a former Fine Arts instructor for Kanawha County Schools.  Her goal for the children of St. Andrew is to work with the Lead Teacher to provide a safe and healthy environment while affording an outstanding learning and social experience.
Andrea Hudson - Preschool Aide
Andrea is the aide to the  St. Andrew Preschool four and five year old class.  Andrea lives in St. Albans with her husband and two children both of whom have attended the St. Andrew Preschool program.  Andrea is a member of the Grace Baptist Temple and is involved with the AWANAS and nursery ministries programs.  She works with the lead teacher in making the classroom academically and emotionally appropriate for all children.
